Started shopping there for the prices to cut grocery costs for a large family. Surprised that some of their house brand foods we prefer to the name brand products at a fraction of the cost. One employee one day had noticed I had an item in my cart and he had just marked an identical item down due to damage to the outside and offered it to me to save additional cost. Very friendly personable staff who now recognize and greet us with pleasantries since we're frequent shoppers. As with any business the employees make or break the experience with the company as a whole and either encourage returning customers or leave a bad impression and drive them away. 5 star employees at this location!
I like to shop at save a lot, you can always find good deals on meat and I like that it's fresh. My one complaint is the produce no fresh spices parsley, chives, scallions, green onion, but overall a good place to shop.
This review is for Save-a-lot's Market Selections fresh pizza. My Dad and I have been shopping at this local save-a-lot for over 10 years and we get what we usually want or need. Now we always quickly browse through the weekly flyer to see what deals are for the week. We usually don't see anything that catches our eye, but I think it was around a week ago, that I saw in the flyer, a special $5.99 deal for a supreme market selections pizza. Now mind you, a supreme for $5.99 pizza at walmart across the street is $8. Both pizzas are large. So when I saw this deal in the flyer, I couldn't believe my eyes. I told my Dad that we had to try them right away. For a deal like that, we couldn't turn it down. My Dad and I have tried walmart Marketside pizza before, and thought there was not a better deal. So we brought the save-a-lot pizzas home, threw them in the oven and waited. When they were done, I took the first bite. It was delicious. Worlds better compared to Walmart. Everything tasted really fresh and good. From the crust to the toppings. I recommend trying this pizza compared to Walmart's more expensive Marketside Pizza.
"Save a lot" AKA save your money and head somewhere else! The store has an odd smell. Bad produce, questionable meats. The dry goods are not worth it. Their private label products aren't that good, and the national brands are not really cheaper than surrounding stores.
Normally I don't have a problem with this grocery store. However, today, I went in, it smelled TERRIBLE of mildew / mold. Some parts of the store smelled like cleaner, like they were trying to remedy it, but the smell of mildew was overwhelming by meats /baking / paper goods. Typically the front entrance smells.. ripe. So, at first I didnt think anything of it, but as I got toward the rear of the store, I found what I needed and got out quickly. This store usually meets my grocery needs at decent prices. Not a terrible place, the building itself needs some serious maintenance.
There was a nice selection of fresh meat at reasonable prices. I enjoyed the selection and took the opportunity to stock up. The store was clean and well staffed with knowledgeable employees. It was my first choice and I had a very good experience.
Inexpensive and good for making your grocery dollars stretch. Not always the best variety or highest quality but most items are at least mediocre or better... And that makes it a good deal for the price. If you're a brand snob, head elsewhere.
I usually wouldn't trust the meat here but there was a really good sale and a friend recommended it over walmart's. Going to give it a shot with a rib eye and london broil. Will update.
UPDATE: Forgot about the review didnt forget about the meat though! Actually very good just make sure you look up how to cook cuts of meat you may be unfamiliar with.
